Today more than 341,000
Americans have died from Covid-19. This is a deadly virus that has spread like
wildfire throughout the world. Highly contagious it spreads through droplets
emitted primarily via the nose and mouth. This is why the media has continually
banged the drum on wearing face masks, surgical masks being the safest bet. It
is really tragic that for about 10 months now the U.S. has seen other nations
do a far better job at containing the outbreak. Our unstable and truly chaotic
president has made light of this lethal virus and mocked the practice of
wearing a mask. I am grateful to God he has lost his re-election bid!
The current surge in the
U.S. is significantly worse than the ones in April and May. Right now, on
average, 1 Covid-19 patient dies every 90 seconds, according to the CDC. It has been hard to distance
oneself and not see family members, but life is better than dying on a
ventilator. Often those dying in hospitals are not allowed to see their loved
ones the last few days of their lives.
Thankfully, two vaccines
have now been approved in the U.S., and two more are on their way. This morning
I signed my 83-year-old mom and myself up to get the vaccine. This was done
through a new website established by the District of Columbia. Soon tens of
millions of Americans will be vaccinated rom this horrible pandemic, but until
then we must hang on. We can always check-in with each other in the meantime
via FaceTime, Zoom, or Skype.
